BALMAIN

For the Balmain x Pokémon collaboration, I played a pivotal role as a strategist, bridging the gap between two distinct creative and cultural identities—Balmain’s bold French luxury and Pokémon’s globally beloved universe, with deep roots in Japan and China. My focus was on ensuring that both brands maintained their authenticity while finding a visually and strategically compelling middle ground. Navigating the collaboration between a French fashion house and a culturally rich entertainment giant required deep market understanding. I worked closely with teams across different regions, leading strategic discussions on how to align aesthetics, storytelling, and engagement strategies in a way that resonated with both Balmain’s luxury consumers and Pokémon’s passionate fanbase. Through workshops and research, I helped define the collaboration’s positioning, ensuring a balance between heritage, innovation, and cultural nuance. A key innovation in this project was the integration of NFC-enabled patches, bringing a phygital (physical + digital) experience to the collection. I was instrumental in shaping how this technology was leveraged, ensuring it went beyond a gimmick to create a meaningful and interactive consumer journey. These patches transformed the garments into gateways for digital engagement, allowing fans to unlock exclusive content, rewards, and experiences by scanning them. This strategic fusion of fashion, technology, and gamification set a new standard for immersive brand experiences, redefining how luxury and pop culture intersect in the digital age.
